To the Daily Sun,
Do we have a “Commander in Chief” or “Commander of Disaster?” Joe Biden’s press briefings continue to be embarrassing and shameful to watch. Last Friday’s was innocuous as usual, followed by questions from a mere four reporters carefully chosen by his “handlers.” His speeches are full of puffery and falsehoods, only to be corrected later by his generals and the Pentagon press secretary.
It’s becoming more obvious with each passing day that Joe Biden’s mental capacity has seriously deteriorated since he left the White House in January 2017. He doesn’t watch, or doesn’t remember watching, live reports from the Kabul airport where Taliban foot soldiers are systematically preventing people from entering. There continue to be beatings, stampedes, and even deaths from trampling, all ignored by our president. He continues to restrain our armed forces from doing what they do best --- go beyond the airport to rescue our citizens and Afghan friends before they meet inevitable deaths. If it means fighting to accomplish this, so be it. While France and Germany are patriotically rescuing their citizens, our troops are being held at bay.
To add insult to injury, the U.S. military was ordered to sneak out of Bagram Air Base at night and abandon their equipment. The Taliban have taken possession of more than 2,000 armored vehicles and up to 40 aircraft, including UH-60 Black Hawks, scout attack helicopters, and ScanEagle military drones. A-29 Super Tocano bombers, armored Humvees, drones and night vision goggles are also among the billions of dollars worth of US military weaponry that has been seized by the Taliban, and we can no longer use the two runways to save people, forcing us to use the one runway in Kabul.
A generation of military combat vets is completely embarrassed by their commander in chief selling out their sacrifices. What a disgrace to their honor and service.
What Biden had hoped would lead to a historic celebration on Sept. 11, has vaporized to the point where vets and survivors at Ground Zero are telling Biden to stay away. He’s not wanted there.
Joe Biden has managed to alienate our many friends and allies throughout the world, yet he believes they are behind him all the way. Former British Commander Colonel Richard Kemp vehemently laid that idea to rest Sunday night, saying that Biden “should be court-martialed for betraying the United States of America and the United States' armed forces." There have been many more damning responses as well—too many to list here.
Finally, it would seem appropriate at this time to stop using the innocuous and childish BUILD BACK BETTER slogan. It’s very insulting.
