LACONIA — Armand J. Fortier, 91, of Paugus Street, passed away on Nov. 24, 2025, at his home.

Armand was born on Aug. 27, 1934, in Laconia, the son of the late Jules Freeman Fortier and Anna Fortier. He married Beverly “Marlene” Allan in 1955. They made their home in Lakeport.

Armand went into the U.S. Marines after high school, reaching the rank of sergeant. When he returned, he worked two jobs at Belknap Tire and The Ski Shop until he saved enough to open his own business, Northeast Tire Service in 1969. Armand was an owner of the business, alongside his wife.

He enjoyed many trips to the casino. You would see him after a long day at work enjoying a cocktail with friends out in back of Northeast Tire.

Armand’s generosity was known throughout the community. He helped all the local children’s sports teams, customers down on their luck, and always wished luck to all his employees past and present.

Armand is survived by his sons, John F. Fortier and his significant other Doris Fontone of Sanbornton, and Jeffrey S. Fortier and his significant other Stacie Buttinger of Laconia. In addition to his parents, Armand is predeceased by his wife, Marlene Fortier, and his brother and sister.

Armand will be missed by many.

Out of respect of Armand and Marlene’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services.

For those who wish, memorial donations may be made in Armand’s name to the New Hampshire Humane Society, P.O. Box 572, Laconia, NH 03247, or the New Hampshire Veterans Home, 139 Winter St., Tilton, NH 03276.
