Don Ewing: Donald Trump’s vision is for better health and prosperity

Thanks to Lynn Rudmin Chong, for reminding us (Dec. 5) why voters elected President Donald Trump. What “Progressives” see as “Trump’s Dark Vision for America” is, for most Americans, a safer, freer, healthier and more prosperous America.

All Americans, especially poor Americans, benefit from deporting illegal immigrants who exacerbate all our problems: housing, education, health care, social services, jobs, affordability, murder, rape, drug dealing, drunk driving, etc. Why do Progressives fight to protect people who harm so many American citizens?

Progressives have controlled public education for at least 60 years; Progressives are the Big Brother in our classrooms, and now only half of students can read and do math at grade level.

Joe Biden provided four years with the highest inflation in recent memory. Undoing Biden’s mess takes time, but Trump has already reduced mortgage rates, many food, energy, and other prices. And worker earnings in Quarter 3 of 2025 were up 4.2% from Quarter 3 of 2024 (tinyurl.com/369y8kv6).

Other “Progressive” smears: Has Trump brought back childhood diseases? No. Eliminated abortions? No. Made transgender people disappear? No. Ordered mass executions? No. Eliminated teachers’ unions? No. Ended representative democracy? No.

Rather than worsening gun violence, Trump is improving safety by incarcerating and/or deporting criminals despite Progressives’ efforts to keep criminals on our streets victimizing innocent people.

Cars will be safer and less expensive, and life more affordable because Trump stopped wasting money on man-made climate change boondoggles that primarily only benefitted politicians and wealthy people.

Unfortunately Trump hasn’t eliminated the Department of Education. The DOE wastes lots of money; American education has degraded since its inception.

The “dark vision” that “Progressives” see is only the loss of their own power and wealth. For everyone else, Trump’s vision and actions mean more freedom, fewer crime victims, better health and more prosperity.
