The Rotary Club of Laconia will be holding a raffle for a 42-inch high-definition plasma flat screen television, an XBOX 360 video gaming computer, and an enormous capacity mp3 player which holds thousands of songs and pictures on a pocket-sized portable device.

“The raffle offers entrants the chance to win nearly $3,000 worth of gear while making a contribution to the worthy mission of Rotary,” said John Moriarty of Laconia Rotary Club, making reference to the tens of thousands of dollars in donations the club makes every year to such efforts as the library building project, Lakes Region Scholarship Foundation, Rotary Riverside Park and many other local and international projects.

“As always we’ve enjoyed getting out and sharing the Rotary message while meeting great people from around Belknap County and beyond,” explained Rotarian Dan Collis.

“Wal-Mart is an organization that understands and believes in that message and in the stewardship of Rotary,” added Gilford Wal-Mart store manager Christopher Cote, who presented a matching funds grant check to Rotary President Jim Adams.

Adams characterized the contribution as “significant in that it allows Rotary to use ticket proceeds for their highest value — contributions. We are thrilled to have super-retailer Wal-Mart embracing our club.”

Tickets are being sold 3 for $10 at the Gilford Wal-Mart and on the Laconia Rotary website. The drawing will take place Saturday, Nov. 25 in the Gilford Wal-Mart.
