MOULTONBOROUGH — The New Hampshire Department of Transportation will hold a public informational meeting in January to share updates regarding the Moultonborough 40639 Route 25 (Whittier Highway) safety, intersection operations, and access management project.
The purpose of the project is to improve safety and access along Route 25 (Whittier Highway) between the western and eastern intersections of Route 25 with Lake Shore Drive. This initiative is necessary due to a higher frequency of crashes, turning maneuver conflicts at intersections, and inadequate sight distances.
The meeting will be held on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026, at 6 p.m. at the Moultonborough Public Library, 4 Holland St. In the event of inclement weather, the meeting will be postponed to Thursday, Jan. 29. Notification will be posted on the NHDOT website if necessary.
The purpose of this meeting is to provide a status of the project’s progress, review the preferred alternative, highlight funding constraints, and ensure project decisions align with public transportation needs, community goals, and environmental protection. This informational meeting precedes a public hearing required by NH RSA 230:14 and Public Law 100-17 to determine the selected alternative.
An environmental review of the project’s potential impacts on cultural and natural resources is underway in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act. The project is not expected to have an adverse effect on cultural or historic resources that are potentially eligible for or listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Individuals or organizations with a demonstrated interest in the potential impacts to historic resources may become consulting parties under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. Additional information will be provided at the meeting.
Information about the project can be atdot.nh.gov/projects-plans-and-programs/project-center.
