To The Daily Sun,
To the Citizens of Ward III, Franklin:
Kathy Rago possesses attributes that we seldom see in local politics, whereas Kathy always has her finger on the pulse of our community.
Kathy and her family have been residents of Franklin for 20 years. She is a former State Representative and has previously served on the Franklin Zoning Board, as well as the School Board. Kathy graduated from Texas A&M University with an accounting degree and is a licensed certified public accountant.
Prior to being appointed to fill a vacancy on the City Council, Kathy’s was a familiar face at both city and school budget meetings, as well as City Council meetings.
Since being appointed to the City Council Kathy has used her accounting background for the betterment of our community and has provided a means of transparency for the taxpayers. Kathy has worked tirelessly with the City Manager, the City Finance Director and the SAU 18 Finance Director to gain a better understanding of the financial needs of our schools and the municipality as a whole. She has racked up countless hours of her own time compiling data and subsequently creating meaningful spreadsheets that laid out that data in a manner that could be understood by the average layman. She then used that information to make sound, data-based recommendations in cutting costs and ultimately saving taxpayer dollars.
Kathy currently serves as Chairwoman of the Joint Finance Committee, she is a member of the School Liaison Committee and she serves on the Planning Board.
Kathy is an advocate for school choice and as the mother of a child with special needs, Kathy is proactive when it comes to helping parents navigate the special education processes.
Several of Kathy’s personal attributes I admire include her concern for others, her concern for our community, her get-it-done attitude and her eagerness to hear what people have to say. Kathy has been, and always is, willing to listen and has been more than receptive to open dialogue while attempting to reach meaningful compromise.
Please join me in supporting Kathy Rago as she seeks another term on the Franklin City Council. Voting is Oct. 1 at the Franklin Middle School from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
