“A main event at the Town of Meredith Old Home Day celebration, held Sept. 19, was burying a time capsule at 11 a.m. in Community Park. The capsule is to be opened in 2076,” wrote Sharon E. Ryan, of Meredith, on Wednesday. “I thought it a nice gesture for Chris Kelly, the individual holding the capsule, to ask that anyone born 2000 or after gather around the hole the capsule would be placed in. He said it would be only those of that age that would be alive when it came time to open the capsule. There was one bucket full of sand placed by the hole. Chris asked those of that age to scoop out one or two handfuls of that dirt and throw it into the capsule hole.”
