Everybody get up! The rebooted Hollywood Squares is officially set to return for Season 2. It is one of nine renewed CBS shows for the 2025-2026 broadcast season, and the premiere date is right around the corner. The celebrity guest lineup was just announced with some returnees and some new faces. Plus, a holiday special is set to air this month to kick off the season.
The game show was revived by CBS in 2025, after two iterations of the show, the first in 1966 and then again in 1998. Here’s everything you need to know about its renewal, including when you can expect it to return and who will host.
What landed Hollywood Squares Season 2 renewal?
Hollywood Squares Season 1 was a ratings hit, with around 5.4 million viewers watching the show “live” on CBS every week.
“This season, our new and returning series continue to showcase CBS as the leader in launching and programming the biggest hits with mass appeal for broadcast and streaming viewers,” Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, said in a press release. “These returning shows represent a mix of long-standing hits and a new generation of fan favorites. In collaboration with our extraordinarily talented partners in front of and behind the camera, we look forward to delivering another successful season.”

When will Hollywood Squares Season 2 premiere?
Season 2 of Hollywood Squares returns on Wednesday, January 7 at 8/7c. The episodes will continue to air at that time until March 4, when it moves to 10:30 due to Survivor. A two-episode holiday special is set to air on Sunday, December 21, beginning at 8/7c. Two episodes will air back-to-back on January 7 and January 14 with the below celebrities.
The game show will not air on February 24, due to a three-episode Survivor premiere.
What is Hollywood Squares about?
Hollywood Squares is a game show where two contestants compete in a game of tic-tac-toe to win cash and prizes. A celebrity will give an answer and the contestant has to agree or disagree with them and if they are right, they get that square. The first player to get a tic-tac-toe or five squares wins. Every episode there is a secret square. If they are picked and the question is answered correctly, the contestant wins a trip.
Who stars in Hollywood Squares?
Former football player Nate Burleson will return as host. Drew Barrymore, who was the center square in most of the Season 1 episodes, is also returning. The celebrities change every episode, with a few recurring. This seaosn will have over 70 celebrities trying to get contestant to win $25,000.
The celebrities in the first four episodes include Anthony Anderson, Glenn Close, Kat Dennings, Fortune Feimster, comedian Zarna Garg, Jay Mohr, Padma Lakshmi, Joel McHale, Ariana Debose, and Arsenio Hall.
Fan-favorite celebrities are back, including Whitney Cummings, Tiffany Haddish, Pete Holmes, Lil Rel Howery, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, Leslie Jones, Jo Koy, Ross Mathews, Ms. Pat, and RuPaul.

Hollywood Squares Season 1 airs on CBS on Wednesdays at 8/7c. It also streams at the same time on Paramount+. The season finale is Wednesday, May 9.
