MEREDITH — Leonard Richard Gokey, 79, passed away on Dec. 7, 2025, at Concord Hospital-Laconia.

Leonard was born on Aug. 22, 1946, in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of the late Francis H. Gokey and Marion A. (Kelly) McMakin. Along with his mother, he was lovingly raised by his stepfather, Francis “Maxie” McMakin.

Leonard proudly served in the U.S. Army. He worked as an accountant at Michelin Tire for many years. Leonard loved to travel, collected model trains, reading, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a Boston sports fan at heart, especially the New England Patriots and the Bruins.

Leonard is survived by his loving wife of 54 and a half years, Regina E. (Kenney) Gokey; daughters Megan Morrow and her husband Greg of Indian Trail, North Carolina, and Erin Kaik and her husband Bill of Meredith; sister Jane Leydon and her husband Michael of Tewksbury, Massachusetts; grandchildren Bentley Kaik, Kensley Kaik and Cameron Morrow; nieces Maryn Leydon and Hannah Leydon; and his best friends Leo and Debbie Lamontagne of Kingston, whom he loved to travel with via motor home, plane or cruise ship. In addition to his parents and stepfather, Leonard is predeceased by his sister Marilyn Gokey.

A calling hour will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 15, in the Narthex at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 300 Route 25.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m., on Monday, Dec. 15, also at the church.

A graveside service with military honors will be held in the spring of 2026 at Village Cemetery.
