To The Daily Sun,

I recently attended the Plymouth State University Symphonic Band concert, The Music of America, at PSU’s Silver Center. It was truly a delight.

Impressively, the band is made up of Plymouth state students and faculty as well as skilled musicians from the surrounding community, a beautiful blending of talent and commitment to the arts in central New Hampshire. The result was a highly professional performance, open free to all. There was a lovely balance of musical genres such as "Battle Hymn of the Republic," selections from "West Side Story," and John Phillip Sousa’s "Liberty Bell." The performance was both upbeat and thoughtful.

I commend PSU for offering this program to the surrounding community, showing what the university brings to New Hampshire through the arts.

And I am deeply grateful to conductor Debbi Gibson and to all the musicians who played together so beautifully that evening.
