Ron Judd: Laconia needs new ideas, not a focus on errors of the past

Laconia currently falls under the definition of insanity, performing the same actions and tasks repeatedly and expecting different outcomes. It is time for fresh ideas from those with different city perspectives to come forward and contribute to the changes that Laconia so desperately needs.

In discussing the trending decline in Laconia with constituents, it is apparent their voices are being ignored by their current representatives within city government. These elections will have a profound impact on the direction Laconia takes in the future and I, for one, choose to look forward, not focusing on the past errors but learning from them as I announce my candidacy for city councilor to represent Ward 1 in Laconia.

Throughout my 30-year career at Fairpoint Communications, I have collaborated with teams and individuals to achieve both company and personal goals, culminating in 15+ years as a union steward representing the hard-working members. 

In retirement, my family and I have focused on giving back to the Laconia community we love and call home. Tireless effort has resulted in the theory of providing a hand up to those in need becoming reality with the formation of Creative Actions = Ripple Effects, which has aided so many across the Laconia area.

Laconia has a bright future with the many forward-thinking ideas brought forth to me thus far concerning the increasing homelessness, addiction and zoning/construction. I’m asking all concerned citizens in Ward 1 and across the city to reach out with their ideas and potential solutions to augment the ideas I already have in mind. There is no singular solution to the problems we face, but working together, dreams can become reality.

With that said, I humbly ask for readers' input and vote in the upcoming primary on Sept. 9.
