NEW HAMPTON — A local man suffered a broken leg after a cow fell and landed on him, causing a traumatic injury.

“Sounds like the department got dispatched to a male patient that a cow had fallen on,” said Scott Cathy, chief of the New Hampton Fire Department. “It had caused some deformities to the patient’s leg.”

Bristol Fire Department transported the patient to Concord Hospital in Concord.

While many commented on a Facebook post about the event — particularly the part where it says “the cow is secure” — a few of the patient’s friends shared some kind words to first responders.

“Thank you to new [sic] Hampton and Alexandria paramedics who showed up for us today,” wrote Abby Hunt, who relayed a message from The Laconia Daily Sun to the patient seeking comment, which was not returned.
