MOULTONBOROUGH — “Succession” star Nicholas Braun was charged with driving under the influence following an incident on Lee Road Aug. 29, according to a media release from Moultonborough police.
A police dispatcher on Wednesday said following the media release, the department would make no further comment. The release was obtained by The Laconia Daily Sun on Friday after multiple requests.
Braun, 37, was found by Moultonborough police officers at 11:15 p.m. on Aug. 29. He was charged with DUI as well as operating without lights.
Police Chief Peter Beede Jr.’s release provides insight into why the department isn’t releasing more information.
“It is the practice of the Moultonborough Police Department to not release any police reports, cruiser video, body worn camera, etc. during prosecution of any individual arrested by this agency, except to the defendant and/or the defendant’s attorney through the discovery process."
The release goes on to reference the Right-to-Know law, New Hampshire RSA 91-A.
But according to reports by Huffpost, the police camera was broken and no mugshot of Braun was taken.
Instagram messages to Braun’s verified page were not returned.
A Facebook message sent to Braun’s manager, Cynthia Pett-Dante, was returned Sept. 3, signed by Cynthia Pett.
“At this time, we are aware of the situation involving Mr. Braun. As this is an ongoing legal matter, we are not in a position to comment on specific details of the incident. We respect the legal process and ask for understanding as it moves forward,” the message read.
Also according to the HuffPost, Braun is due in court on Tuesday, Sept. 16.
“This case remains an active investigation/prosecution pending the adjudication of all charges,” according to the police media release.
Braun is known for roles in “Sky High” and “The Perks of Being a Wallflower.”
