LACONIA — Wayne Charles Watkins, 77, passed away Aug. 20, 2025, at Laconia Rehabilitation Center.
Wayne was born May, 24, 1948, in Laconia, the son of the late Charles A. and Florence (Suroweic) Watkins.
He graduated from Laconia High School and entered the Army, where he was stationed in Germany.
After he left the Army, he came home and drove heavy trucks with Heads Electric, where he met Rose. After her passing, he worked for Jim Piscopo, JH Lyman & Sons, and Nutter Construction.
Wayne enjoyed life to the fullest. He rode his motorcycle, danced and met many people, who later became his friends. He enjoyed home cooked meals at Grace and Ed’s and enjoyed holidays with the Ottos. He frequently was seen with his good buddy Eddie at vintage car shows. He loved talking about his grandkids.
Wayne is survived by his daughter, Angela Paul of Tilton, and her three children, Franchesca Perry, Logan Comeau and Annabella Moses; and niece Heidi Wakins of Virginia Beach, Virginia. In addition to his parents and Rose, Wayne is predeceased by his brothers, Wendell and Gary.
His good friend Eddie was there until the end to carry out his wishes. He wanted to be buried next to Rose and to let everyone know, “See you in the fast lane.”
Wayne touched all who met him.
There will be no calling hours.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 29, in Bayside Cemetery.
A celebration of life at the Rod & Gun Club, South Main Street, will be announced at a later date.
For those who wish, the family suggests you do something fun on the weekend and think of Wayne.
