LACONIA — Bruce Cheney and Mike Bordes moved through the municipal primary without complication on Tuesday night amid low voter turnout.

Cheney, who serves Ward 1 as a city councilor, and Bordes, who serves Laconia as a state representative in Concord, beat Joseph Hart in the primary election for the mayor’s office.

Cheney earned 755 votes, Bordes earned 719 votes, and Hart earned 62 votes. There were nine write-in votes.

Just 14% of registered voters in the city participated in the municipal primary.

Jon Hildreth dominated the municipal primary for the Ward 1 city council seat, earning 233 votes. Mike MacFadzen moved forward to the general election, too, earning 130 votes. Ronald Judd earned 98 votes.

There weren’t any write-in votes in Ward 1.

In Ward 2, Councilor Bob Soucy moved through the primary with 116 votes. He’ll face Gregg Hough, who earned 88 votes and beat Nicole Arsenault by the skin of his teeth. She earned 84 votes.

There were two write-in votes in Ward 2.

Of 11,130 registered voters in the city, 1,548 participated in the municipal primary.
