LACONIA — The Lakes Region Community Services Board of Directors recently announced a leadership transition as longtime President and CEO Rebecca (Bryant) Tolman, steps down from her role after nearly 20 years.
Tolman has been instrumental in guiding LRCS through significant growth, system change, and strategic initiatives that have strengthened services for individuals with developmental disabilities, acquired brain disorders, and their families throughout the Lakes Region.
“Becky has given her heart and soul to LRCS,” said Board Chair Nin Onos. “Her commitment to inclusion, family support, and community-based service delivery has been unwavering, and she leaves a legacy of integrity and innovation that will serve as the foundation for years to come.”
Tolman announced she is making a career pivot to academia and will join the University of Massachusetts Boston as the director of the Gerontology Graduate Program, continuing her commitment to strengthening aging services and workforce development.
Tolman will remain in her position full-time through Aug. 31 and will shift to a part-time advisory role through Oct. 31. During this period, current Vice President of the Family Resource Center Erin Pettengill will serve as interim CEO.
Pettengill, a 15-year veteran of LRCS, brings a record of leadership in family support, government relations, and community-based services. She has cultivated strong statewide partnerships, advanced strategic initiatives, and built trusted relationships with families, employees, and stakeholders across New Hampshire.
“Erin embodies the mission and values of LRCS,” Tolman said. “Her vision, compassion, and collaborative leadership will provide stability and inspiration as the organization moves into its next chapter.”
The LRCS Board of Directors will engage a professional search firm to conduct a nationwide search for the agency’s next permanent CEO.
“We are fortunate to have Erin’s experience and leadership during this time of transition,” said Onos. “She is deeply respected in the field and by our staff, and her appointment as Interim CEO ensures continued focus on quality services, advocacy, and innovation.”
