To The Daily Sun,

Report from the Rocky Shoals of the Laconia School Board:

The responsibilities of the Laconia School Board are unenviable. Their constituents, at odds with Board decisions, are treated with thinly veiled contempt by some of the Board and their minions. Frustration could be relieved if the Board would act to understand.

On Aug. 17, about 15-20 anti-CRT protestors picketed their meeting with passing honking cars demonstrating non-ceasing support. Of the 60-70 people inside the meeting, most appeared to be anti-CRT and anti-maskers. The corporeal and zoom-call input went on for an hour with only three minutes per speaker allowed.

One obviously hostile school board member unreasonably demanded that I remove a posted CRT founding fathers’ quote which he indignantly read out loud, although confused as to its meaning. If typical, this Board is too defensive to try to comprehend CRT.

It seemed that except for Dawn Johnson, the Board was hostile to any resistance to its decisions and confusion regarding CRT. Even when the Chair was supposedly “proven to have lied” about Laconia teaching CRT, the Board did not respond, adding to everyone’s frustration.

The Board seems to employ proxy speakers who often turn to face the resistance while judging their motives. Included in their fountain of misinformation, dissenters were accused of being allied with the “Proud Boys.” There were repeated assertions that CRT was not taught, and then CRT principles were described as “training teachers to help the disabled.” One such speaker refused to accept copies of Board-website-posted CRT principles, so as not to be confused with actual facts. Non-Laconia residents are denied input; a likely unconstitutional decision.

This presumably well-intended Board’s plan is to ignore input, be it picketers, honkers, or speakers. I assume they are good folk who don’t understand CRT’s assault upon equality theory, as articulated in the initial Declaration of Independence, again in the 14th Amendment, and yet again the ethos of the Civil Rights Era well-articulated by Dr. King. Likewise, they are blissfully unaware of the research debunking the value, and exposing the harm, of their encouragement of gender confusion in children. Their ill-founded “health” effort drives incalculable potential misery to include an industry of sexually mutilating even pubescent children, now appallingly, increasingly, without parental consent.

The Board needs to understand that gender dysphoria presents in only 0.02 percent of the population. Like anorexia, it has a profound “social transmission” feature. Seventy percent disappears if not generated by schools or otherwise. Likewise, the board seems unacquainted with decades of replicated science debunking CRT’s allied destructive, and science-free bizarre belief of “systemic racism” featuring “inherently racist” and “privileged” white citizens who now need to be discriminated against.

The Board’s ignorance of education’s promotion of race and gender essentialism’s damage upon children and communities is unacceptable. Will they ever understand? Perhaps, a review of America’s deplorable educational ranking among other nations could bring them back to their legitimate role in society.

It seems Mr. Breen is well versed in foisting his misunderstandings upon others, which he does with great alacrity in his letter. He first says that “input went on for an hour with only three minutes per speaker allowed”, as if this is abnormal, but it isn’t.

He goes on to say “this Board is too defensive to try to comprehend CRT,” yet fails to demonstrate that he does. Instead, he proves the opposite, claiming “there were repeated assertions that CRT was not taught”, implying that it is. Well, Mr. Breen, it isn’t. Critical Race Theory isn’t a thing that is taught, it is merely a criticism of how history has been whitewashed in the American education system. Funny thing, though, is that you go on to admit that your own historical education was also white-washed, as you claim you “assume they are good folk who don’t understand CRT’s assault upon equality theory, as articulated in the initial Declaration of Independence, again in the 14th Amendment, and yet again the ethos of the Civil Rights Era well-articulated by Dr. King. Likewise, they are blissfully unaware of the research debunking the value, and exposing the harm, of their encouragement of gender confusion in children. Their ill-founded “health” effort drives incalculable potential misery to include an industry of sexually mutilating even pubescent children, now appallingly, increasingly, without parental consent.”

Well, here’s the hard truth: Those founding fathers also enshrined institutional racism in the Constitution, calling Black people “2/3 a person” rather than whole people, and permitting slavery to continue, culminating in the Civil War; and after the Civil War we had Jim Crow through to the 1960’s; and then new laws were made post Jim Crow to continue the institutional racism in other ways. And THAT is what CRT exposes, and THAT is what you so nonchalantly attempt to acknowledge.

Then you go on about “gender confusion in kids”, exposing your lack of education in human development and the plight of non-hetero-conforming people of all ages across the ages. You claim that “gender dysphoria presents in only .02% of the population”, ignoring that it’s actually artound 1 or 2%, so low because most such people either stay closeted or kill themselves before presenting. How convenient to your argument, one which keeps that number low by marginalizing such people. As if parental consent is required for a person to express their inner selves. I pray your children are conforming to your straight hetero standards, because I would feel badly for any LGBTQI+ child living under your roof.

In short, you are ignorant of the facts, and have instead caused the Laconia Sun to publish disinformation based on your clearly uneducated opinion. Maybe you should go back to school.

Michael Breen Ph.D.

Respectfully, Mr. Dixon, CRT beliefs are not “merely a criticism of how history has been whitewashed in the American education system” as suggested by the uninformed.

Consider its founding father’s quote in “Critical Race Theory: An Introduction”

“Critical Race Theory questions the very foundations of the Liberal Order, including equality theory, legal reasoning, enlightenment rationalism, and the neutral principles of constitutional law.”

Read the above CRT foundation carefully as it is mind-boggling. CRT is incompatible with democracy, rationality, the rule of law, and the equality rights we support. Many fall prey to CRT style tactics, rife with all its misrepresentations.

The Constitution never said “Blacks were 2/3 of a person.” Your ratio and context are both incorrect. You’re referring to Article one, section two of the Constitution which counted unfree persons as three-fifths for the purposes of enhancing their congressional representation thus their ability to retain slaves. Southern slave holders wanted to enhance their congressional representation to preserve slavery; and the founding fathers sought to eradicate slavery. This negotiated ratio allied the states to fight the British, and was the first step in wresting power from slave holders to fulfill the equality articulated in the promise within the Declaration of Independence—a promise made nowhere else on earth at the time.

Slavery, not a product of racial animus, was a global norm derived from the ethic of conquest which, race aside, existed in in every society throughout the world until challenged by equality theory—the basis of the United States. The word “Slave” derives from the Slavic regions in which millions were taken by Muslims. Slavery did not coincide with race until Spanish and Portuguese traders encountered the long established and thriving slave trade in Africa, managed by Africans long before America existed. Because it was incompatible with the then radical “equality theory,” American’s founding fathers criticized it since the first draft of the Constitution.

America couldn’t free itself from the Earth’s largest military force and free slaves at the same time. America inherited the institution, and found its greatness by steadfastly eradicating it as initially advocated in the Declaration of Independence. A cursory review of our history proves this. No other country spent billions and 640 thousand civil war deaths in fighting this institution. This unique political posture overturned Slavery’s norm on Earth. America was one of the first to invest in eradicating the global slave trade; an effort resisted for over a century by Middle East and African countries. Trillions of dollars and civil rights legislation, later employed to suppress racism, is the comportment of virtuous people, not a racist unjust society.

You’ve conjured an opposition to transgenders never expressed. Their suicides are unacceptable. They present disproportionately among the those induced by its social contagion feature. Protecting this population is key in protecting transgendered citizens, it supports them and so do I. Understand that not every policy that tends to have one feel moral superiority and licensed to call others vile names, is genuinely moral or beneficial.

Dawn Johnson? Is this a joke?

Parsomweems

This CRT obsession is a product of the right wing crazies ( of whom we seem to have a vocal few) need to keep the word race in the news ad infinitum. The more they talk about it the more they get to spew their story of how they are wrongly called to account for the behavior of some who continue to promote by their actions that non whites are somehow inferior and undesirable. You can find evidence for this everywhere by just observing what is going on. When their actions are pointed out they rebel and claim they are the offended party. Heaven forbid the tale is retold as history and they need to face the truth.

Dawn Johnson is someone that is clueless and needs to be removed from the School Board, yet you praise her in steam of consciousness drivel of absolute ignorance and nonsense.

You should be standing with the Motely group of 3 misfits holding the signs against decency and common sense, that's the crowd you are speaking for this garbage.

Utter nonsense. Your understanding of CRT is divorced from reality. You sound like a right-wing extremist, bereft of the necessary intellectual skills for understanding CRT and it's focus on systemic racism. But then again, you can't face the fact that systemic racism permeates our society and always has. Denial. Head in the sand. But go ahead and keep pounding dirt if you need to. Do you realize that the fanatics of the right have, over time, lost almost every culture war battle ever fought? Progress moves 2 steps forward and 1 step back repeated, The fearmongering right always initiates the step backward.
