John Curran: Bruce Cheney does not deserve respect nor mayor's office

It has come to my attention that current Laconia city councilor, Bruce Cheney, is running for mayor of Laconia. I feel I would be remiss to not notify the public of Bruce's lack of honesty and integrity.

Last year, I entered into a verbal contract with the Cheneys for services to mow a field. After performing the services, the Cheneys refused to pay. It was only after sending a letter stating I would pursue legal action, that I received partial payment. I sent another letter requesting payment of the outstanding balance. In response, I received a letter signed by the Cheneys, stating they would not pay me what they owed. They went on to insinuate that I stole from them; to which they considered their bill paid. Not only is this untrue but also insulting as I pride myself in running an upstanding business.

As a retired law enforcement official, I expect more from my peers and certainly more from elected officials. I have the utmost respect for citizens who devote their time and energy to the community; Bruce Cheney has done nothing to earn or deserve such respect and should not be elected to office.
