Dianne Garibotto: Democrats do not despise the United States of America

To The Daily Sun,

I’m responding to Mr. Jim Mayotte from Sanborton. First, I thank him for his service and sacrifice to this country. It saddens me to think so many Republicans believe Democrats hate this country. We do not.

We believe in the strength, hopes, and integrity of the United States. We believe this country should care for its veterans and the most vulnerable citizens. We believe all people are created equal. We weep and grieve the loss of every life.

To some of his points, we were saddened the president turned the state fair into a partisan rally, further dividing our nation. This should have been a national celebration. In general, we disagree with Israeli government and its policies, but respect the Israeli people. And to claim Democrats celebrated 9/11, is simply false.

We do not believe in talking food from children to fund tax breaks and corporate subsidies. We do not believe Americans should be bankrupted because of a medical emergency and cannot afford healthcare. We do not believe our environment should be destroyed to serve the greed of corporations.

Do not believe the right wing media machine. Neighbors and friends believe in a government for the people by the people. We do not believe the 1%, the Epstein Class, and the corporations get to determine the fate of the U.S. and our citizens.
