GILFORD — A motorcyclist and their child passenger were sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after police say it was in a collision with a car near the intersection of Weirs and Lake Shore roads Friday afternoon.
Gilford Police and Fire responded to the accident, which happened near Sawyer’s Dairy Bar, just after 4 p.m. on July 10. The patients were taken to Concord Hospital-Laconia to be treated. Police Chief Dustin Parent said the minor passenger on the motorcycle was wearing a helmet, but the adult male operator was not.
At about 4:40 p.m. on Friday, Jarrett Mogee, of Franklin, was sitting with Halle Crawford eating ice cream, in the Sawyer’s parking lot. Mogee said they showed up after the accident occurred. Mogee said a white Subaru appeared to have front-end damage, but was able to be driven from the scene.
“The front bumper was hanging off, and there was glass in the road,” Mogee said.
Mogee said he saw an ambulance at the scene when they arrived. Another passerby said they saw the motorcycle on the ground, but could not tell if it was damaged, and saw the motorcycle passenger with a helmet on.
Crawford said they only saw the aftermath. They witnessed a Gilford Police officer pushing the motorcycle out of the way, to be parked alongside the entrance to Sawyer’s, along Lake Shore Road.
A Gilford Police cruiser was parked on the lawn in front of the restaurant. An officer checked on the motorcycle, which did not have visible damage. He declined to comment.
