To The Editor:
As a resident and voter in Alton, I am very pleased to endorse Nancy Mitchell for state representative for the Alton and Barnstead district. Over the years I have known her, Nancy has been consistently generous with her time and energy in working for our community. She has been a volunteer at the swap shop and at the polls. She has been active in town issues, most recently the dam project that many of our residents are concerned about.
One of the things I like and admire most about Nancy Mitchell is her openness to new ideas and her willingness to learn from other knowledgeable people. With regard to the dam project, for instance, Nancy has approached it with an open mind and has attended town and site meetings to learn more. This is the kind of attitude I would like to see in my state representatives.
By way of background, Nancy Mitchell is a 24-year military veteran (Navy and Army) who supports our constitution and believes in the importance of an engaged citizenry. She is also a member of the local American Legion. When I have joined her in talking to voters, I have been struck by her friendliness and her willingness to listen. She has none of that know-it-all attitude that we sometimes see in candidates, and she would be a breath of fresh air at the Statehouse in Concord and at delegation meetings in Laconia.
I urge residents to join me in voting for Nancy Mitchell on Nov. 3.
