Families enjoyed a touch-a-truck event hosted by the Family Leadership Council of the Family Resource Center at Belknap Marketplace Wednesday evening. There were 21 vehicles were present in the parking lot of the Belmont shopping center, and more than 100 people attended. Organizations represented include State Police, Belmont Fire, First Student, Community Action Program’s Mid-State Transit, Laconia Public Works, Same Day Computer, Cyr Family Chip Distribution, Rusty’s Towing, Laconia Police, Mac Tools, Four Paws Inn, Gilford Police, Laconia Post Office and the Adventist Motorcycle Ministries. Climaxe Throwing provided free axe throwing. The Boys & Girls Club's Lakes Region Child Care Services, CAP's Early Head Start and the Family Resource Center were represented at information tables. The Family Leadership Council's goal was to provide a free, inclusive event for families and caregivers, and give them information about available services. Organizers hope to make this an annual event.
