When police were called to quieten a celebration of St. Patrick's Day on School Street last week they found themselves not looking over a four-leaf clover but a different variety of plant.
When police reached 158 School Street the found a trail of blood from a downstairs apartment to unit D and a "highly intoxicated" man cut about the face in what was described to officers as a fall. The man refused treatment, but was placed in the care of a sober adult.
Inside unit D police found what they reported as "a substantial amount " of marijuana along with other paraphernalia, including a scale and several glass pipes, or bongs.
Mark Royea, who rents the apartment, told police he invited several people to his home to celebrate St. Patrick's Day and admitted to selling marijuana to his guests. Royea was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute.
