MEREDITH — A trailer holding a fishing boat fell off the SUV towing it near the intersection of Route 104 and Pease Road on Tuesday. While no injuries were reported, it caused a traffic disruption for at least an hour.

Meredith Police and Fire responded to the accident at about 1:40 p.m. on May 19, and Police Chief Michael Harper said while it is unclear how the accident occurred, it was “minor,” and only involved one driver.

“It just went off the road,” Harper said. “He applied the brakes, the trailer came around and got disconnected. I think the whole tongue came off the trailer.”

Photographs from the scene show a silver Toyota SUV resting near the trees on Route 104, with the Skeeter fishing boat in the trees close behind it. The trailer was completely separated, laying in front of the Toyota.

Harper said fortunately, no other vehicles were involved in the crash, but having to tow the truck, trailer and the boat from the scene caused some maneuvering. The road was not closed, but police directed traffic to ensure their personnel could properly respond.

“We certainly did have traffic there for a bit,” Harper said.

Harper’s Towing removed the vehicles from the scene.
