My heart broke for him. When I started to point out what a beautiful day it was, how pretty the trees were, how nice the weather was, how grateful I was to be able to stay home with him, he agreed, but I could tell he didn’t want to be told any of that. So I just sat with him and let him be quiet with his own thoughts. Then I promised popsicles when we got back, and let him take the break he needed. These little kids still have big emotions."
