LACONIA — A plea and sentencing hearing for a local man was continued as prosecution and defense attorneys see if all the outstanding felony charges against him can be handled in one court proceeding.
Jason R. Sabin, 35, classified as a transient, was prepared enter a guilty plea in Belknap Superior Court Monday to a charge of domestic violence second-degree assault, and a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence. Under the negotiated plea, Sabin would have been sentenced in the Belknap County House of Correction for 12 months, with six months suspended for two years on condition of good behavior and submitting to an anger management evaluation.
Sabin is accused of throttling a person he was in an intimate relation with in April 2017.
The other felony charges pending against Sabin are three counts of possession of controlled drugs, stemming from three separate arrests between May 2 and Aug. 10 of this year.
On Aug. 10 Sabin was arrested on the Lake Winnisquam Scenic Trail where Belmont police have been conducting stepped-up patrols, reacting to reports from the public about suspicious activity in the area.
Sabin was charged with possession of methamphetamine and resisting arrest.
