CONCORD — Eric Sweeney, 17, formerly of Northfield, was indicted by the Merrimack County Grand Jury this week in connection with a triple homicide last summer, according to a media release from New Hampshire Attorney General John M. Formella.Â
Sweeney is accused of the murders of his sister-in-law, Kassandra Sweeney, 25, and his nephews Benjamin Sweeney, 4, and Mason Sweeney, 23 months, shot on Aug. 3, 2022, in their Northfield home.
Autopsies conducted following the investigation indicated each victim died from a single gunshot wound.
Sweeney was indicted on three counts of first-degree murder, as well as one count of falsifying physical evidence, which alleges Sweeney interfered with the availability of a Taurus .40 caliber handgun during the course of the murder investigation.
State police spent hours searching a 20-mile stretch of Interstate 93 last summer during the course of the investigation, between exits 17 and 20, for physical evidence.
The defendant is currently being held. The arraignment has yet to be scheduled.
