It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Richard Joseph Dulac Jr. on Aug. 15, 2026, at the age of 76.
Richard was born on Oct. 14, 1949, in Laconia, and was married to Carol Furtado Dulac of Bristol, Rhode Island, for 53 years. Throughout his life, he was known for his creativity, empathy, and love of cooking and sharing a good meal.
Richard was the son of the late Richard Sr. and Violet (Daoust) Dulac. He was the brother of the late Betty Dulac (Worcester, Massachusetts), Joanne Reynolds (Meredith), and Ron Dulac (Gilford).
Richard was a lifelong learner and devoted art teacher. He graduated from the University of Rhode Island and earned his master’s degree from Rhode Island School of Design. He began his teaching career at New Hampton School, where he taught for 20 years, and later at international schools in Belgium, the Czech Republic, and Hungary. Following his retirement, Richard returned to Bristol, New Hampshire, where his compassion and love of the outdoors led him to train as an EMT and join the ski patrols at Ragged Mountain and Waterville Valley.
He and Carol later built their dream home in Bristol, Rhode Island, where he quickly became part of the pickleball community, enjoyed watching soccer matches with his English buddies, fishing with his cousin, and creating in his art studio.
He will be greatly missed and remembered by his loving wife, Carol; his daughters, Caitlin Dulac (Karl Karlsson) and Britta Winter (Zach); and his grandchildren, Haukur, Oskar, Olive and Mazlo.
A memorial service celebrating Richard’s life will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, we encourage you to honor Richard’s legacy by raising a glass and cherishing time with family and friends.
