Yet another Saturday Night Live exit has preceded the premiere of Season 51. After the dust seemed to have settled, with five major exits announced, Ego Nwodim is also not returning to Studio 8H this fall. Deadline reports that the comedian decided not to come back after creator Lorne Michaels revealed that the cast was set — and she was expected to be part of it.
In a statement, Nwodim said, “The hardest part of a great party is knowing when to say goodnight. But after seven unforgettable seasons, I have decided to leave SNL. I am immensely grateful to Lorne for the opportunity, to my castmates, the writers, and the crew for their brilliance, support, and friendship. Week after week on that stage taught me more than I could have ever imagined, and I will carry those memories, and that laughter, with me always.”
Saturday Night Live will return this October to NBC, with five newcomers and now six departures.
Here’s a look at everything to know about SNL Season 51.

Despite some major shakeups in the cast, many of the repertory players from Season 50 are coming back, including “Weekend Update” stars Michael Che and Colin Jost, along with Kenan Thompson, James Austin Johnson, Chloe Fineman, Sarah Sherman, Andrew Dismukes, Mikey Day, Bowen Yang, and Marcello Hernández.
Not returning for the season are Devon Walker, Michael Longfellow, Emil Wakim, Heidi Gardner, and Nwodim.

What will happen in Season 51?
As Michael Che told THR, “I try not to think about it in the macro — in Season 51, we can look back at 50 and say what was special about it, but it’s impossible to determine what is going to be special. You can’t plan for a perfect moment.”
