Robert Irwin just gave fans a positive update about his sister Bindi Irwin‘s health as she continues to be open about her battle with endometriosis.

“She’s doing good,” Robert shared in an interview with E! News posted on Wednesday, September 3. “It’s an ongoing battle. Endometriosis is one of these things where it’s not a quick fix. It is something that I really think needs to be in the forefront of discussions. Women’s health throughout history — and even now — is just under-discussed, under-researched, and we really need advocates to stand up and to get the word out there, men and women.”

Back in March 2023, Bindi revealed via Instagram that she had been diagnosed with endometriosis after struggling with “insurmountable fatigue, pain & nausea” for 10 years. “I decided to undergo surgery for endometriosis,” she shared at the time. “Going in for surgery was scary but I knew I couldn’t live like I was. Every part of my life was getting torn apart because of the pain. To cut a long story short, they found 37 lesions, some very deep & difficult to remove, & a chocolate cyst.”

Bindi went on to note that she wanted to share her own experience to help others going through the same health issues. “I’m aware of millions of women struggling with a similar story. There’s stigma around this awful disease,” she wrote. “I’m sharing my story for anyone who reads this & is quietly dealing with pain & no answers. Let this be your validation that your pain is real & you deserve help. Keep searching for answers.”

Bindi gave fans another health update earlier this year, revealing in a May 12 Instagram video that she underwent surgery to remove her appendix. “I also had 14 new endometriosis lesions [that] had to be removed, and they kindly stitched up my hernia, as well,” she said while lying in a hospital bed.

She continued, “I’m sorry if I’m a little out of it in this video, but I just wanted you to know that I am on the road to recovery, one step at a time. And I am so lucky to have so much love in my life from my beautiful family. Sending love and light your way and we’ll get through this.”

As a result of the surgery, Bindi had to skip out on her late father’s Las Vegas gala that month. Robert later shared his support for his big sister via Instagram by sharing a selfie he took with Bindi.

“Happy to see you on the up and up, Bindi. You face every hurdle head on, take it in your stride and inspire us,” he captioned the May 25 post. Bindi thanked Robert in the comments, writing, “One day at a time. Tremendously grateful for your support. You’re the best. 🙏.”

Bindi is now returning Robert’s support by moving herself and her family to Los Angeles to watch her brother compete on the new season of Dancing With the Stars. Bindi previously competed on the ABC competition series in 2015, ultimately winning Season 21 with her partner, Derek Hough.

Bindi surprised Robert with a special video message during the DWTS Season 34 cast announcement on Wednesday’s episode of Good Morning America.

“Hey, Robert! I am so excited that you are embarking on your Dancing With the Stars journey. Oh, my goodness! After being on the show 10 years ago, my best advice is to just lean into the experience,” Bindi stated. “This is going to change your entire life, and you are gonna remember this forever. I am so proud of you. Let your personality shine. You’ve got this, and I can’t wait to cheer you on every week.”
