She was employed at the University of Hartford, for 20 years retiring in 1981. She relocated to Vermont

after her retirement where she volunteered at the Waitsfield Elementary School, which she was often

heard to say, “This was the best part of my day.”

She loved to knit, do crewel work, quilt, and her kitchen was her favorite place. She enjoyed processing foods from their home grown gardens and berry patches. She spent endless hours working in her flower beds. Her yard was resplendent with new blossoms appearing weekly from the beginning of May

until the end of September. She could saunter down the road and enjoy the symphonies of the early song

birds or send messages on the waters of a flowing brook. She enjoyed the solitude of her long walks. She had a long list of people she corresponded with. She never tired of looking out at the many mountain

ranges that surrounded her home. Children were her gems. She loved to have them around and never tired

of their presence and the many contributions they made to her life.

She was an avid reader. Enjoyed a good book about early colonial New England life and biographies. She

was known for her ability to speak extemporaneously. She could easily capture the interest of an audience

with her recollections.

She waged a valiant battle against the acute Leukemia that invaded her body. She was stalwart to the very

end.

There will be no calling hours.
