Richard Bixby, 89, of Bristol, surrounded by his family, went peacefully to be with the Lord on May 29, 2026.
He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Alberta; his son, Mark; his son-in-law, Howard Hodgdon; and his granddaughter, Crystal Hodgdon.
He is survived by his son, Richard Bixby, and his wife, Suzanne; his daughter, Theresa Hodgdon; his grandchildren, Ricky (and wife Lisa), Bryan (and wife Diane), Chelsie, and Jeremy; and his great-grandchildren, Ava, James, Aubrianna, Natalie, Keyra, Dylan, Hannah and Gracey.
Richard proudly served his country in the New Hampshire Army National Guard during the Vietnam era, serving with the 197th Field Artillery Regiment gun crew. Richard worked for the Acme Staple Company until his retirement as an accomplished machinist and repair technician. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, camping and thrifting with his wife. He also took pleasure in wood carving and model trains.
Richard loved the Lord deeply and faithfully served at Bristol Baptist Church. He expressed his faith through the many songs he wrote in worship and through a life devoted to serving others.
He deeply loved his family and friends and will be remembered for his quiet devotion, caring heart, and steadfast faith.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, at Bristol Baptist Church, 30 Summer St., Bristol.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bristol Baptist Church, 30 Summer St., Bristol, NH 03222.
