MOULTONBOROUGH — Geraldine Virginia Tower, 95, passed away peacefully at home on May 7, 2026. Affectionately known as "Jerri" to many, she was a woman of remarkable warmth, boundless energy and an entrepreneurial spirit leaving an enduring mark on her community.

Born in Andover, Massachusetts, on Sept. 8, 1930, she was the beloved daughter of John Alfred White and Hazel White (née Preston). Jerri had a tireless work ethic and natural gift for hospitality. Alongside her husband of 67 years, Richard E. "Dick" Tower, who preceded her in death in January 2011, she became a foundational partner in the region's food service industry. Together, they were independent restaurateurs who owned and operated 15 establishments. In the early 1960s, they owned the celebrated Longwood Farms Restaurant and in the 1970s, the Woodshed Restaurant. The Woodshed became widely renowned and loved for its fine dining and exceptional roast prime rib masterfully cooked over an open pit using native hardwood. Jerri's warm nature and welcoming presence ensured that their restaurants were places of community connection and lasting memories.

Jerri was devoted to her faith, her family and community. Her legacy survives through her devoted sons Rick (Sue) of Moultonborough, and Dave of Norfolk, Virginia. She is further survived by her cherished grandchildren, Sarah Burhop (James), Kristin Tower, Megan Thom (Dustin), Jason Tower (Kim), and Corey Tower; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Sasha, Gracyn, Asher, Andy and Violet. She was a pillar of support, strength, and love for each generation.

A celebration of Jerri’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 29, at the Meredith Village Cemetery, Route 3, Meredith.

Arrangements are under the care of Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Humane Society of your choice in Jerri's memory.
