PLYMOUTH — Today is the deadline for registering to hear Dr. Joshua P. Aronson talk about deep-brain stimulation in a program at the Downtown Gym, 171 Fair St., Laconia, on Monday, May 10, at 11:30 a.m., jointly sponsored by Comfort Keepers and the Downtown Gym.
Aronson is a neurosurgeon at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon who joined in 2016.
“As a functional and stereotactic neurosurgeon, I focus on using electrical neurostimulators to affect brain circuits and restore function and improve quality of life,” he said
Deep-brain stimulation involves placing electrodes in the brain to control irregular impulses. The electrodes are powered by a pacemaker-like battery placed under the skin of the upper chest. The procedure is approved for epilepsy, essential tremor, trigeminal neuralgia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, Parkinson’s disease, and traumatic brain injury.
Call 603-536-6060 to register.
