LACONIA — The Laconia-Gilford Lions Club’s Electronic Waste Collection Day on Saturday, April 9 was a great success, and the Lions are grateful to all those who brought items and participated in this fundraiser. Thanks to the participants, two large trucks were filled up with recyclable electronic items.

The club thanks the owners of the Cinema’s 8 plaza in Gilford, WJP Development, LLC, for allowing them to use their parking lot for this fundraiser. Additional thanks to the Airport Country Store and Deli for opening their facilities for the volunteers.

The money that the Lions raised will allow the Club to meet pressing needs in the community including eye exams, eye glasses, eye screening in the schools, hearing aids, scholarships to graduating Seniors, Christmas baskets, assistance to food pantries, Lakes Region Community Services, Community Health & Hospice, among many other local charities. The Lions are grateful for the support. The next Electronic Waste Collection Day fundraiser will be on October 1.

The Lions are looking for service-minded people to join them. For more information, call 603-998-5549.
