LACONIA — The Association of Rural and Small Libraries has awarded the Laconia Public Library a Sustainable & Resilient New England Libraries grant of $15,000 to LED retrofit the library’s main floor. Lighting will be updated with brighter LEDs to improve visibility on the main floor, increasing accessibility and comfort for all library patrons while also saving on energy costs. This project is made possible by a grant from the Association for Rural & Small Libraries through the generosity of the Manton Foundation.

The Sustainable & Resilient Libraries Grant is open to any rural library in New England.

The program is meant to fund facility improvements, outreach and programming, and funding efforts for libraries that have limited staff time and grant administrative infrastructure. According to the 2022-24 Grant Impact Report on their website, 136 libraries were awarded grants with 338 projects funded and $2 million awarded between 2022-24.
