WOLFEBORO — Makers Mill is partnering with WorkReadyNH to bring a tuition free professional skills training program to Wolfeboro this fall, giving local residents an opportunity to build confidence and strengthen the skills employers across New Hampshire say they value most.
WorkReadyNH is a program of the Community College System of New Hampshire, developed through conversations with New Hampshire employers and in partnership with the NH Department of Employment Security. Since launching in 2011, the program has served more than 7,500 people across the state.
The program focuses on practical skills that can make a difference in nearly any workplace, including communication, teamwork, conflict resolution, problem solving and decision making. Participants also strengthen foundational skills such as reading and using workplace documents, interpreting graphical information and applying mathematical reasoning, along with resume writing and preparation for job interviews.
WorkReadyNH is designed for people at many different stages of their working lives. It can benefit someone looking for a job, returning to work after time away, considering a career change, preparing to enter the workforce for the first time, or simply wanting to refresh their skills and feel more confident in the workplace. The program also serves people who are underemployed or already working and looking to strengthen skills that can help them grow in their current or future roles.
The upcoming program runs Oct. 20 through Nov. 19, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday sessions will be held in person at Makers Mill, with Wednesday sessions taking place virtually.
Bringing WorkReadyNH to Makers Mill fits naturally with the organization’s mission to help people discover and build their skills and find meaningful ways to put them to use. Along with opportunities to learn by making and doing, programs like WorkReadyNH give people practical tools, greater confidence and new ways to think about what comes next.
