PLYMOUTH — Plymouth State University recognized a record 102 University employees and 29 retirees in a Nov. 12 recognition ceremony at Heritage Commons. Dozens of co-workers, friends and family members attended the annual event during which the University honors the contributions of longtime employees.
University President Donald Birx thanked employees for their dedication and provided each of them with a gift for their service to the University.
"This annual recognition ceremony is an opportunity to express our gratitude to faculty and staff for creating an environment that offers students the opportunity to reach their goals," Birx said. "We are all here on the same mission–to prepare students to make a better world for the next generation. On behalf of Plymouth State, thank you for your loyalty, generosity and the care you bring to all that you do here."
Professor Michael Fischler was recognized as the longest serving employee, celebrating his 45th year at the institution. During his tenure, Fischler has worked in three departments; Educational Leadership, Learning and Curriculum; Elementary Education and Childhood Studies and Counselor Education and School Psychology.
29 retirees were recognized for their dedication to Plymouth State.
"Among them, our retirees represent 784 years of service to Plymouth State University," Birx noted. "Each retiree has made his or her mark on our institution as well as in his or her field. We are grateful for their achievements."
