Guided Discoveries Summer Camp registration now open

HOLDERNESS — As families begin planning for summer, Squam Lakes Natural Science Center has opened registration for its Guided Discoveries Summer Camp, week-long day camps that connects children with New Hampshire’s natural world through outdoor exploration, hands-on learning, and up-close encounters with wildlife.

Guided by the Science Center’s mission to advance understanding of ecology by exploring New Hampshire’s natural world, the Guided Discoveries Summer Camp fosters curiosity, builds connections with nature, and inspires conservation-minded decisions in children.

Camp sessions run Monday through Friday and are designed for three age groups: 5-6, 7-9, and 10-13. Each week offers a unique theme tailored to the age group, providing fresh opportunities for discovery and engagement throughout the summer while meeting children where they are developmentally, and encouraging exploration, creativity, and collaboration.

“With each session, we see campers grow in so many ways, gaining confidence, making new friends, and developing a sense of wonder about the natural world,” said Drew Stazesky, camp coordinator and naturalist. “Being outside all summer with the campers is one of the highlights of my job here at the Science Center. Experiencing their curiosity of nature first-hand really inspires me to slow down and appreciate the small moments of learning that happens with children every day."

With access to the live animal exhibit trail and up-close to animal programs, campers have unique opportunities to learn about and connect with local wildlife and ecosystems. Through guided activities and outdoor exploration, children develop a deeper curiosity and appreciation for the natural world while building confidence and social-emotional learning skills in a safe, supportive environment.
