To The Daily Sun,

In response to Mr. Don Ewings’ letter on Oct. 2. Yes, New Hampshire’s current state law prohibits abortion after 24 weeks of pregnancy except when the mother's health or life is in danger or there is a fatal fetal anomaly. Where I strongly disagree with Mr. Ewing is that Democrats are not using the term reproductive rights as a euphemism for “killing healthy babies.” This constant and ridiculous message being sent by Republicans and pro-life supporters, that healthy babies are killed or, as Donald Trump puts it, “post-birth” abortions, or killing babies after they are born, is absurd. Killing anyone after birth is illegal. No states have or are considering laws that allow for the killing of a baby after birth.

But back to NH. Democrats are committed to protecting and expanding access to reproductive health care in New Hampshire. Women should not have their reproductive rights on the line every legislative session. We need to advocate and fight to keep our rights safe and legal. There is no state or federal protection in place for abortion rights in NH. We will continue to advocate for health care access, promote effective education and prevention policies, protect reproductive rights, and prevent government interference in the health care decisions of people and their families. Even Mrs. Melania Trump strongly disagrees with her husband. "Restricting a woman’s right to choose whether to terminate an unwanted pregnancy is the same as denying her control over her own body. I have carried this belief with me throughout my entire adult life.” — Melania Trump.

I stand with Planned Parenthood, Always have, and always will.
