To The Daily Sun,
Let me see if I have this straight: The amorphous antifa, which is more an ideology or movement than a single group and some of whose proponents may admittedly advocate for violent protest, is a terrorist organization that is insurrectionist and anti-American. But the organized groups such as the Proud Boys and others of their ilk who violently stormed (oh, sorry, I mean visited) the Capitol on Jan. 6, destroyed government property (oh, sorry again, accidentally broke a couple of windows), attacked the police and called for the hanging of Mike Pence, they are patriots simply protesting against what they label a fraudulent election and for a rightfully elected Donald Trump as per their First Amendment rights. And now to shift blame Trump posted that "the Biden FBI placed 274 agents into the crowd on Jan. 6." Caught again in a lie as on that day Trump was still president and Joe Biden had not yet been sworn in as president.
Antifa is an old term originally from the 1930s that refers to those opposed to fascist, authoritarian dictators like Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini and would-be fascist dictators (need I mention a name?) It is definitely not anti-American and, rather than destroying American democracy, they have fought and are fighting against the destruction of democratic principles by the pervasive right-wing (fascist) movement that is, with the help of a politicized Supreme Court and a largely compliant cabinet and Congress, actually destroying our American democracy.
