To The Daily Sun,
I just wanted to share my experience voting in the primary on Tuesday. I asked for and received a Republican ballot. While completing, I noticed a couple of names missing. For a couple of candidates I did a write-in vote. The machine kicked out my ballot because I did write-in votes. A nice lady working the polls came over and gave her guarantee that they count them at the end of the day or I could complete another ballot without the write-in votes.
This all caught my attention. Why have the write-in option if voters don't even know if it gets tallied? Folks rely on a guarantee from someone. Why isn't this concern addressed before Election Day? Why were some names missing from the ballot? One of my friends that voted was asked if it was OK to see their ID to verify things. Is there another option I am not aware of? All this in just one small voting ward. I am not saying anything deliberate is taking place but it's easy to see why some people wonder.
