GILFORD — No injuries were reported after a boat accident at The Witches in Lake Winnipesaukee last weekend.
The accident happened at 11:07 a.m. on Aug. 30, near the formation of rocks mostly hidden under the water’s surface, south of Timber Island.
A 25-foot Sea Ray vessel was traveling in the area, and the driver did not see the marked hazard. The vessel struck a submerged rock, damaging the stern and propeller. The vessel began taking on water.
Marine Patrol and New Hampshire Fish and Game officers responded to the scene and were able to stop the boat from sinking.
The watercraft was then towed to the Mountain View Yacht Club, and removed from the water safely.
