Russ Wiles: The hateful rhetoric is mostly coming from those on the left

Which political party celebrates murder and loathes free speech? With rare exceptions, it is the top leadership in the Democrat Party, the mainstream legacy media and academic institutions that are the ones spouting hatred and vitriol which is the main cause of the recent violence occurring in this country.

Why is it that recent assassinations, attempted or successful, have taken place against a GOP president, GOP representative, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare, Supreme Court Justice Brent Kavanaugh and multiple attacks on the life of Rand Paul and one of his staffers? Now we have another successful assassination against Charlie Kirk.

The murder suspect in the murders of Minnesota politicians is an outlier compared to violence from the left.

Yes, some GOP politicians and conservative media use negative language. But which side of the political aisle purposely uses the terms Hitler, dictator, monster, fascist, racist, demonic, end of democracy and existential threat to our civilization, ad nauseam, for the past decade? We know which side and that is where the evil rhetoric originates that lights the fuse that encourages the violence and assassination attempts being carried out by the mentally unstable types who listen to and believe the lies and hate that emanates from the left.

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox clearly states what conservatives have been concerned about for many years now — "the mainstreaming of extremist beliefs that portray conservative voices not as opponents, but as enemies." Perhaps Democrats could tell their supporters that free speech and vigorous debate are still core American values.

Wouldn't it be awesome if "liberal" academic institutions embraced that ideal once more instead of being incensed because they couldn't compete with Mr. Kirk or his ideals? That was Charlie Kirk's core mission. He was too successful and so he must die.
