To The Daily Sun,

My name is Robert “Bob” MacLeod, and I respectfully ask for a vote for the one year seat on the New Hampshire Electric Cooperative Board of Directors. I’ve called Thornton home for 43 years and know firsthand how vital electric cooperatives are to rural communities. As our energy landscape rapidly evolves, I believe my background and values align strongly with NHEC’s mission of delivering affordable, reliable electric — and growing — broadband services to its members.

In my professional life, I serve as chief executive officer of Mid State Health Center and have held state level public service roles. I understand the complexities of regulated environments, contract negotiations, supply chain optimization, and maintaining rigorous safety and quality standards. Throughout, I’ve remained steadfast in keeping services both affordable and responsive, while supporting the dedicated employees who deliver them.

NHEC’s push to expand high speed broadband across our service area is critical. Reliable internet access is now a basic necessity — for families, businesses, health care and education alike. If elected, I will champion better broadband mapping, work to identify unserved and underserved areas, and make certain that all co op members can fully participate in the digital economy.

Looking ahead, we must strengthen energy resiliency, affordability, and reliability — particularly as we experience more extreme weather events and shifting energy demands. I will support intelligent, member driven investments and innovation to ensure our electric grid and broadband network meet the needs of everyone from Pittsburg to Portsmouth.

With my deep commitment to public service and track record of practical leadership, it would be my honor to represent readers on the NHEC board.
