Colonialism and expansionism are in America’s real nature due to "reason." President Theodore Roosevelt was building a canal across Panama; earlier, the Americans were involved in the Panama Civil War, supporting Panama’s independence from Columbia (1903-14).

Under President William McKinley and with the aid of Adm. George Dewey and Major Gen. Douglas MacArthur, they occupied the Philippines and, while they were at it, created a war with Spain and occupied Guam and Puerto Rico. They also acted crudely in overthrowing Hawaiian royalty and annexing Hawaii. It is only natural that they incorporate Ontario, Canada, or all of Canada and make it a state.

For that matter, in 1848, they fought the Mexicans and took much of their territory, acquiring California, Texas, and other territories. Heck, occupy all of Mexico. And while they are at it occupy tiny Newfoundland off the coast of Canada. The Danish can’t govern it from Europe.

America has used the term Manifest Destiny to justify earlier expansion. It is an appropriate term that the Russians wished they had created. They were great expansionists until the Russo-Japanese War of 1905, losing to Japan.
