Richard Gunnar Juve: America has used the term Manifest Destiny to justify earlier expansion

Colonialism, expansionism are part of America’s nature due to its history of Westward expansion. Theodore Roosevelt influenced the building of a canal across Panama, Americans were involved in Panama's separation from Columbia, its civil war.

Under President William McKinley and with the aid of Admiral George Dewey and Arthur MacArthur, America defeated the Spanish, occupied the Philippines, conquered Philippine insurgents, and captured Guam and Puerto Rico. They also acted offensively in overthrowing Hawaiian royalty, made Hawaii a state. We should secure the Canal, control it, and throw the Chinese out to prevent them from closing the canal and preventing us from moving ships expeditiously from the Atlantic to the Pacific.

It is only natural the USA incorporate Ontario, Canada, or all of Canada, make it a state. In 1848, America fought the Mexicans, and Gen. Winfield Scott occupied Mexico City. President James Polk purchased much of their territory, adding land that became parts of California, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, and Oklahoma. Jefferson Davis said we should have occupied all of Mexico.

We might consider merging Canada with the USA. We share a 3,000-mile border. We could share a common currency, joint military, and maximize natural resources, making us the most powerful nation on the planet. Then, America would not have to worry about Russia or China.

And while America is at it, buy Greenland. Years ago, we offered to buy it. The Danish can’t govern Greenland. America has used the term Manifest Destiny to justify earlier expansion. Greenland would give us unfettered access to the Arctic oil, gas, sea routes, and precious metals. (The path to a new continent). Until the Russo-Japanese War of 1905, the USA was a great expansionist. It is time we resumed our expansionist destiny.

Once the USA does this, it will never fear China going to war over Taiwan.
