Peter Kirk: Government shutdown shows leaders have no answers

We are in the midst of a national government shutdown as I write this letter. Let's keep in mind that our current representatives in Congress have done nothing to help the situation. I will give the outgoing Sen. Jeanne Shaheen the benefit of the doubt; of course, she needs no more Democratic National Committee money.

Why is Democratic leadership so incensed about the insurance issue? Keep in mind that the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) is a Democratic hijacking of the health insurance industry. Remember "if you like your coverage, you can keep it"? Just one of the many lies. At the get-go they were told their payment plan was unsustainable.

This has been proven correct. This will not be the first major jump in subsidies needed to maintain the current level of insurance. Why should we continue to pay for a failure?

I do not pretend to have the answer. I also understand we must keep this failure until we can fix it. I also believe our current representatives have no answer either. They have displayed no backbone nor competent ideas.

Being cute or nice does not cut it. Please look at all choices to select people who truly care more about our country than their political affiliation.
