To The Daily Sun,

Regarding State School land, an earlier article said it was deeded to the feeble-minded. Was that in the original deed? Did anyone check? What did they get out of it? Were they those who can’t care for the themselves?

Those who needed protection from exploitive individuals. Have their needs been better served today? Physically perhaps less exploited, but financially? They certainly had a productive farm taken away from them. What zoning laws and planning effort have been put forth on this land area?

New Hampshire citizens have tremendous power and control over development of land by majority rule. What efforts or thoughts have been put in place to protect productive fertile soils? Preserve healthy and valuable forest habitats? Visual vistas and buffer zones for everyone’s benefit? If Laconia drew up a zoning plan with the future in mind protecting irreplaceable assets, then put that on paper. This should have been done long ago. Should the state, which claims ownership, proceed to put this on the open market, fair and square, what would be the price? Maybe something smells off in the corner office? I don’t think it’s fish.
