Charlotte A. (Graber) Born, 63, of North Sandwich, and formerly of Merrimac, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026, at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative and Hospice Care in Lebanon. She was surrounded by the people she loved most. Charlotte fought a long, brave battle with cancer.
She leaves behind her husband, William F. Born, who was not only her biggest supporter but her soulmate; her stepdaughter, Barbara Born Conlon and her husband John Conlon, and new granddaughter Nora Emily Conlon; her stepson, Billy Born; and her mother-in-law, Anna Born.
Charlotte was born on April 25, 1963, in Sellersville, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Charles H. Graber Jr. and Sandra (Volak) Clark, and stepdaughter of John F. Clark Jr.
She spent many years working as a manager at Winnipesaukee Eye in Laconia. She loved what she was doing and the people she worked with.
Charlotte loved to gather with family and being outdoors. Some of her favorite things were spending as much time as she could with her granddaughters, reading a good book, watching her Boston Bruins and New England Patriots, being at their Lake Pemi camp, ice and bass fishing, taking trips on the motorcycle with Bill, and spending time on their boats Voodoo 1 or Voodoo 2 on the New Hampshire lakes with family and friends. She also enjoyed cruising in Big Yellow.
Above all, Charlotte was the best mom, wife, daughter, grandmother, sister, mother-in-law, auntie, and friend anyone could have.
Her greatest pride and joy was watching her son, Jesse, grow from childhood into adulthood and into fatherhood. Her shining star was her beloved granddaughter, Emily, whose life and accomplishments brought her endless happiness and anticipation for every visit and milestone.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her husband Bill and his family; her son Jesse West and his wife Kristin of Catania, Italy; her brother Rick Graber and his wife Roseanne of Norton, Massachusetts; her sister Tiffany Nigro and her husband Jim of Newmarket; her stepbrother John R. Clark and his wife Kate of South Thomaston, Maine; her stepsister Kimberley Clark of Effingham; and her cherished granddaughter Emily West of Catania, Italy. She also leaves behind her nephews Ben Graber and Nick Nigro, and her niece Elizabeth Graber. Charlotte was predeceased by her brother, Charles H. Graber III.
Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 11, at Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 36 W. Main St., Merrimac, Massachusetts.
A graveside service will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12, at Locust Grove Cemetery in Merrimac, where Charlotte will be laid to rest beside her brother Charles.
If you’d like to honor Charlotte’s memory, donations can be made to the MSPCA.
